MOTOKOOL - CLOSED-LOOP COOLING SYSTEM FOR AC AND DC DRILL RIG MOTORS
The Hunt MotoKool is a closed-loop cooling system designed for use with major brands of AC and DC drill rig motors. The MotoKool is a complete circulatory cooling system consisting of a blower assembly with explosion-proof motor; an air-to-water heat exchanger with 90/10 CuNi tubes for use with sea water; a filter element section to trap any generated carbon dust; an air leakage compensation/regulation system to maintain positive air pressure throughout the system; and heavy-gauge steel housing with an air duct system.
For most applications with draw-works and mud pump motors, the MotoKool system is installed directly on the AC or DC motor. This eliminates the highly expensive alternative of ducting air from a safe, non-hazardous area. A properly installed and maintained MotoKool, operating with proper air leakage compensation, provides sufficient cooling for the AC or DC motor and prevents ingestion of explosive vapors. This design also eliminates the ingestion of dirt and mud dust thus reducing motor maintenance and downtime. A remote MotoKool is also available for rotary-table drive applications.
The Hunt MotoKool closed-loop cooling system is available for most AC or DC drill rig motors. In addition, models are available to meet the requirements of most regulatory bodies for use with pressurized electrical equipment in hazardous environments.
